How to Connect to Your Email Account via IMAP

This guide explains how to manually configure your email account using IMAP. IMAP keeps your email synchronized across all devices (desktop, mobile, and webmail), ensuring that changes made on one device appear everywhere.

Before You Begin

Tip: Always use your full email address as the username.

  • SMTP Encryption: SSL
  • Authentication: Required for both IMAP and SMTP
  • Outgoing server requires authentication: Yes (use the same username and password)

Setup Instructions by Email Client

Microsoft Outlook (Windows / Mac)

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. Go to FileAdd Account.
  3. Select Advanced optionsLet me set up my account manually.
  4. Choose IMAP.
  5. Enter the settings below:

Incoming Mail (IMAP)

  • Server: imap.stackmail.com
  • Port: 993
  • Encryption: SSL/TLS

Outgoing Mail (SMTP)

  • Server: smtp.stackmail.com
  • Port: 465
  • Encryption: SSL/TLS
  • Require authentication: Yes
  1. Enter your full email address and password when prompted.
  2. Click Connect.

Apple Mail (macOS)

  1. Open Mail.
  2. Click MailAdd Account.
  3. Choose Other Mail Account.
  4. Enter your name, email address, and password.
  5. When prompted for server settings, enter:

Incoming Mail Server

  • Account Type: IMAP
  • Server: imap.stackmail.com
  • Port: 993
  • Use SSL: Yes

Outgoing Mail Server

  • Server: smtp.stackmail.com
  • Port: 465
  • Use SSL: Yes
  • Authentication: Password
  1. Click Sign In.

iPhone / iPad (iOS)

  1. Go to SettingsMailAccountsAdd Account.
  2. Select OtherAdd Mail Account.
  3. Enter your name, email address, password, and a description.
  4. Select IMAP at the top.
  5. Enter the following:

Incoming Mail Server

  • Host Name: imap.stackmail.com
  • User Name: Your full email address
  • Password: Your email account password

Outgoing Mail Server

  • Host Name: smtp.stackmail.com
  • User Name: Your full email address
  • Password: Your email account password
  1. Tap Save.
  2. If prompted for ports or security settings, use:
  • IMAP Port: 993 (SSL enabled)
  • SMTP Port: 465 (SSL enabled)

Android (Gmail App)

  1. Open the Gmail app.
  2. Tap Add another account.
  3. Choose Other.
  4. Enter your email address.
  5. Select IMAP.
  6. Enter:

Incoming Server

  • Server: imap.stackmail.com
  • Port: 993
  • Security type: SSL/TLS
  • Username: Your full email address
  • Password: Your email account password

Outgoing Server

  • Server: smtp.stackmail.com
  • Port: 465
  • Security type: SSL/TLS
  • Require sign-in: Yes (same username and password)
  1. Complete setup and save.

Troubleshooting

  • Confirm you are using your full email address as the username.
  • Verify ports are correct: IMAP 993 / SMTP 465.
  • Ensure SSL/TLS encryption is enabled for both incoming and outgoing servers.
  • Confirm outgoing server authentication is enabled and uses the same credentials.
  • Double-check your password (try signing into webmail to confirm it works).

If issues persist, contact support and include your device type, email app, and the exact error message.
